The Garden of Eden and Adam and Eva
Creation of mankind
Welcome to my post, Creation and creation
of mankind. This is the first post that we talk about creation; this post will
be followed by other post about creation, the reason for doing this it is
because we are going to talk about many religions and perhaps myths of how the
world started and how man came about, or created as this has to do with
religious beliefs.
This is a study of religions and how they
serve humanity; therefore in this article we are trying to compare at least the
two largest religions of the world, how they begin and then how they explain
creation and the creation of mankind.
So, let us see first of all how these main
religions begin, and how they explain briefly the very beginning, the way it is
written in their religious books and first of all let us talk about the Bible.
This is our personal view and we feel that
the Bible starts in a very bold way and it does not explain how God came about,
since God is there ready to create the world, as most of us know the Bible
stars thus:
2 Now the earth was a formless void, there was darkness over the
deep, with a divine wind sweeping over the waters.
5 God called light 'day', and darkness he called 'night'. Evening
came and morning came: the first day.
6 God said, 'Let there be a vault through the middle of the waters
to divide the waters in two.' And so it was.
----------------
This was the first day of God’s
creation in the Bible, God continues to create the rest, and then God created
man.
26 God said, 'Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of
ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven,
the cattle, all the wild animals and all the creatures that creep along the
ground.'
27 God created man in the image of himself, in the image
of God he created him, male and female he
created them.
28 God blessed them, saying to them, 'Be fruitful, multiply, fill
the earth and subdue it. Be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven and all the living creatures that move
on earth.'
29 God also said, 'Look, to you I give all the seed-bearing plants
everywhere on the surface of the earth, and all the trees with seed-bearing
fruit; this will be your food.
30 And to all the wild animals, all the birds of heaven and all the living creatures that
creep along the ground, I give all the foliage of the plants as their food.'
And so it was.
31 God saw all he had made, and indeed it was very good. Evening
came and morning came: the sixth day.
Here-under there is a second
description of how God created man:
5 there was as yet no wild bush on the earth
nor had any wild plant yet sprung up, for Yahweh God had not sent rain on the
earth, nor was there any man to till the soil.
6 Instead, water flowed out of the ground and
watered all the surface of the soil.
7 Yahweh God shaped man from the soil of the
ground and blew the breath of life into his nostrils, and man became a living
being.
8 Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden, which
is in the east, and there he put the man he had fashioned.
9 From the soil, Yahweh God caused to grow
every kind of tree, enticing to look at and good to eat, with the tree of life
in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
And still there is another
creation going:
20 The man gave names to all the cattle, all
the birds of heaven and all the wild animals. But no helper suitable for the
man was found for him.
21 Then, Yahweh God made the man fall into a
deep sleep. And, while he was asleep, he took one of his ribs and closed the
flesh up again forthwith.
22 Yahweh God fashioned the rib he had taken
from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man.
23 And the man said: This one at last is bone
of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She is to be called Woman, because she was
taken from Man.
24 This is why a man leaves his father and
mother and becomes attached to his wife, and they become one flesh.
This is how the Bible explains
creation and the creation of mankind.
